mountain & bird

Inspired by the children’s book The Mountain that Loved a Bird, “mountain & bird” takes two contrasting objects that seemingly conflict with one another and gradually merges them. The mountain and the bird appear to have nothing to offer each other until many generations and iterations of the same process have gone by—until many birds of the same species have visited; until the bird has seen the mountain from many perspectives; and until each being has contributed something to the other. Then the mountain and bird, which so badly want to cohabitate, can finally support each other. This piece attempts to illustrate the same process.
